Clearer QR codes and more flexible labels in email signatures.
March 24, 2026
The first new feature is the addition of a white background for QR codes embedded in email signatures. QR codes inserted using the Digital Card variable now render with a white background and additional padding. This ensures they remain readable and scannable regardless of the background color in the email client, even when the recipient is using dark mode.
This is an important improvement from a practical standpoint. In many email clients and mobile apps, dark themes can alter how graphical elements are displayed, which means a QR code without sufficient contrast may become less readable or completely unusable. Introducing a white background eliminates this problem and ensures the code remains functional regardless of the environment in which the message is opened.
We’ve also retained the ability to adjust the QR code size at the specific signature template level. The administrator can specify its size directly in the signature editor settings, allowing for better alignment of the e-mail signature’s appearance with the design, content layout, and the company’s visual identity. This enables the QR code to serve as both a subtle addition and a more prominent element supporting the sharing of a digital business card.
The second significant change is the addition of a new variable, customLabel, which expands the capabilities for conditionally displaying labels in signatures. From now on, templates can utilize a mechanism where a label automatically hides if the associated variable contains no value. This means that the signature will not display empty lines, unnecessary headers, or visual gaps resulting from missing data.
This approach helps keep signatures in a more organized and professional format. If an employee has not filled out a specific field, the system does not display the label itself without content; instead, it omits the entire element. This makes the signature cleaner, more logical, and better aligned with the user’s actual available data.
We have also expanded the options for customizing the appearance of labels. Label colors can now be defined separately for each template, giving administrators greater control over the visual layer of the signature. This is particularly useful where signatures must be precisely aligned with a company’s branding, a marketing campaign, or a specific communication style.
The new customLabel support thus combines two key aspects. First, it improves the logic of data display and eliminates unnecessary elements in the signature. Second, it expands design possibilities by allowing for better management of color schemes and the visual consistency of the entire template.
The entire update is qualitative in nature, but its impact is very practical. Improved QR code readability enhances the effectiveness of Digital Cards in email communication, and smarter labels help create signatures that look aesthetically pleasing and remain organized regardless of the completeness of the user’s data. This is another step toward a more flexible, predictable, and refined signature system in gSignature.
